Dear New World Order

You can rob me.
You can take my house.
You can take my things.
I have nothing of worth for thee.

You can take me.
You can take my liberty.
You can take my freedom.
I surrender my strife to thee.

You can kill me.
You can take my body.
You can take my soul.
I surrender my life to thee.

I will not live in fear anymore.
The conspiracy theories that abound will not
take my attention away from the moment for

I proclaim my freedom from tyranny.
From the news media that pollutes our world with negativity
and tries to make us focus on the worst of mankind.

I will not live with the fear of death, for death is less,
just the beginning and this life is the preparation for
a new journey be it through matter or consciousness.

I will live as if I am already dead.
A ghost in a culture that does not protect the sanctity of life.
I will be unflinching in the face of terror for there
is no terror where there is no fear of death.

I will live knowing that my life is meaningless in a world that
does not value the life of the planet that sustains it.
I will live knowing that by surrendering myself to you
I am becoming part of a population sick of living in fear
of the supposed end times.

I will live knowing that my surrender is the beginning of a life
not consumed with the worries of the future of mankind.
Knowing that mankind has no value because it does not value itself.

So when the time comes I say this pledge so that the powers that be
may know that there is no need for a cleansing of a population
that no longer has the desire to live.
There is no need to defeat a population that no longer buys the lies you give.

So that they may realize there is no need to destroy the
earth in order to depopulate the unwanted masses.

I say this pledge knowing that you do not exist.
Knowing that I will never be affected by any of the theories
that many use to scare an already paranoid and fearful population
into hoarding ammo and rations.

I am not afraid. I will not kowtow to the fear you gave.

Sincerely,

Global Citizen

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes,
an aeroplane – Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn,
world serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs.
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength,
The ladder starts to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped.
Look at that low playing!
Fine, then.

Uh oh, overflow, population, common food, but it’ll do.
Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right – right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o’clock – TV hour. Don’t get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Locking in, uniforming, book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a votive. Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed. Uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier.
Renegade steer clear! A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine.
(I feel fine)

It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine.

The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide. Mountains sit in a line
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Brezhnev. Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam book neck, right? Right.

It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine.

It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine.

It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it. (It’s time I had some time alone)
It’s the end of the world as we know it (It’s time I had some time alone) and I feel fine…

  • this does not mean I will not prepare a little. I am reviewing our three day rations storage that all Floridians should have for hurricane season and I plan on turning that into a one week supply. Logocentric sent me a great list on preparing food rations and I plan on writing about that soon.

I don’t plan on preparing for a one year shortage or going out and arming my household to the teeth to prepare for all the conspiracy theories that abound about the end times.

I just want to have enough to survive if something terrible happens like the earthquake in Haiti.

  • Logocentric

i am moved by this, g. you are right, if i am reading you right–there is something defeatist about living in the propaganda. this poem made me feel a little less confined by information, a little freer to think sanely. thanks.

  • thank you Logocentric. Yes you are reading me right on your read of the poem. i’m glad it helps. it helps me as well. I surrender because whatever one fights, one strengthens, and what one resists, persists. You can see this throughout all wars, especially the war on drugs. Even in victory a new stronger enemy is usually created.

Fear is an ego based reaction. If we recognize fear as a reaction from the ego and for what it is: a collective dysfunction, the insanity of the human mind; then there is no longer anything to fear.

Fear actually feeds and grows the propaganda. Of course I could be wrong but it helps me to think this way.

  • I wanted to make a distinction after further thought. I don’t believe all fear is ego based. There is primordial fear which is not fear comes from the mind. Primordial fear comes from our reptilian brain and triggers the flight or flight response. I don’t believe many of us on a daily basis experience that type of fear in developed countries so when I think of fear I usually think of fear that is manifest from the mind.

Fear from the mind is attached to ones sense of self and identity. I just wanted to make that clarification. Hope that makes sense.
