Freedom from Ignorance

facts and stats are just that.
with them you can do anything.
hide behind them and create a new reality.
because in life, there is duality.

some people look things up.
most people make things up.
who needs to study when one can lie.
the ice is not melting it is a disguise.

the dinosaurs did not exist, it was a myth.
to hide that Eve came from the rib of man.
to create the story of evolution.
i’d rather not believe in all of this too.

it was nice when i could visit the zoo.
and just see monkeys.
now my adult brain tells my children.
how they are cousins with all and Zen.

ignorance is bliss we all admit.
i don’t want to worry about existence.
i don’t want to believe my species is doomed.
i’d like to believe in the stories once presumed.

the ease of life in which we slice.
where our bodies sit for hours without steam.

moving hundreds of miles an hour above.
criss-crossing the heavens we so love.
it is this science that has given us medicine.
keeping our bodies alive to win.

the praise of our loved ones, once again.

I like this one a lot Globa, some truths to it, especially the contradiction of science/evolution with theology doctrine. This is why I speak about faith being important versus the religious dogma of dominiational rhectoric and doctrine.

You are correct about facts and statistics being able to support everything. But conclusions are always variable to the perceivers on perspective. While ice is melting in the polar caps the cause/effect/reasoning behind the events can be widely varied. Why? Because as very very short term and ignorant tenants of the planet we have little real knowledge of what is supposed to happen and how. It is not like the Earth came with a maintenance manual.

So without belaboring the point too much I like this poem, the image of Jesus with the pet raptor is funny but WRONG. ROFL. I almost spit my coffee out when I realized what I was looking at. God that is funny.

And about the monkeys being cousins, have you seen some of humanity? Why would you insult the monkeys like that man? What did they do to you. 🙂 surely I jest, and don’t call me surely.

Oh and it would be awesome if you had an edit button built in for your own postings so that when you f something up you can correct it. My mind works much faster than my fingers unfortunately. Peace out.

  • Wow! You liked it. I’m stoked Greg.

Funny thing is I didn’t mean that facts and stats can be used to support any argument. I was being sarcastic. I believe they can of course, but I believe that is wrong and comes from a place of deception and fear. You see this tactic used currently by the religious right. Science is not fiction. There are facts that must be dealt with and on a global scale, even if you have to pay more taxes.

As to your point that man is too small to destroy the planet, I also agree with you on that. But, man is not too small to destroy the environment that supports human life. Just set off 20 nuclear warheads and see how small man is.

The planet will live. We will be wiped away like a bacteria. And a billion years from now there will be something else taking our place at the head of the food chain. I predict it will be insects. Ants even. Roaches sure deserve their place as well. Hopefully they will treat mother earth better than we have.

hell yeah, brother. this is yet another outstanding poem, man.

  • you are too kind. thank you. i think the garage band addition maybe just makes it more acceptable. i am having more fun than usual so maybe that is something you are picking up on.

am am tired of the religious right easily dismissing scientific evidence and theories such as evolution that have millions of years of fossil records to support it.

i see the same thing happening with global warming.

facts and stats are just that. they are not opinions.

Yes but they are what forms the opinion of the sheeple, so they are manipulated as such.

Great poem globatron, and I love the audio!
